SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Summer Reading is our annual program for children Kindergarten through sixth grade. It consists of fun, hands-on, programming opportunities at an age-appropriate level and encourages reading through incentives offered by local businesses and organizations. Over 170 children participate in this program in the summer. Enrollment usually begins every May, the week before Memorial Day.

STORY TIME @ YOUR LIBRARY
This program began in 2013 and offers children, ages birth to pre-k, and their caregivers an opportunity to sit and listen to stories and participate in activities that encourage their growth and development. This program is offered year around on the first and third Wednesday of every month at 7:00pm. Register today!

1,000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN
This library program encourages all families and caregivers to read 1,000 books with their young children before they enter kindergarten. Studies have shown that families that start reading aloud to their children at birth help to strengthen their language skills and build their vocabulary – two very important tools for beginning to learn to read when they enter school.

RULES: Just Read! There are no limits to what books you read, who reads the books or where those books come from. Can you read the same book over and over? Yes. We all know that kids love and learn from repetition. Just keep in mind that the greatest language and vocabulary development will come from the variety that you add to the books you read. Your library has a large selection of picture and board books to help you along in this journey!

Stop by the Library to fill out a registration form and pick up a 1,000 Books Tracking Kit for your child and let the reading begin!

BRINGING THE LIBRARY TO THE PRESCHOOLS
During the school year, a member of the library staff travels to our local Building Blocks Preschool buildings and Linda’s Preschool to read to the three preschool classes.

BEYOND BOOKS
The library has seven computers, twelve Kid’s Kindle Fires, puzzles, blocks, Legos, coloring, and many games and STEM toys to keep your children entertained!
